Welcome to the NVO Explorer!

This site gives you access to the tools of the National Virtual Observatory. These are the same tools that astronomers use to get complete data on the sky, in all wavelengths of light. These tools search thousands of different data sets, with more added every day.

Select a link from the navigation bar at the top of the page.

NVO Home will take you back to virtualobservatory.org, the main education and public outreach site of the NVO.

Explorer Home will take you back to this page.

Tools will take you to a page describing the NVO's tools. The links on the Tools page will take you directly to the tools.

Help will explain how to use the tools. Each tool has its own help section, which includes an animated demo that shows the tool in use.

Projects are the lesson plans that teachers and students can use to learn astronomy through the data that the NVO can offer. Projects are divided into basic and advanced levels.

The National Virtual Observatory (NVO) is a new effort to make all astronomy data in the world accessible through simple web tools. The goal is to create something like an Internet search engine for astronomy data - just request whatever you want, and the tools will return all matching data. The simple access to data offered by the NVO promises to revolutionize the way astronomers do their work. For more information, see the What is the NVO? and FAQ sections of virtualobservatory.org.
